Roadmap
2009 sees the start of the roadmap for E-Mobility in Austria; the first pilot phase is starting as early as 2010 with a test fleet.
"Austrian Mobile Power" is to be implemented in several concrete steps. The conclusion of binding contracts between the partners, as well as the preparation for the pilot phase, are scheduled to take place by the end of 2009. First of all, the construction of an Austrian E-Mobility technology center is planned.
The pilot phase begins in 2010 with a test fleet of 100 E-vehicles in a metropolitan Mobile Power Region. This will see the associated infrastructure being constructed step-by-step, from an intelligent power grid through to electric charging stations and, ultimately, convenient billing systems, for instance, via mobile telephony.
By 2013 at the latest it is expected that modern, low consumption electric cars with a high distance coverage will be globally available for sale or via leasing in corresponding numbers.
This will then be followed by the Austrian Mobile Power rollout phase, which will initially aim for up to 10,000 vehicles in the model region. A successive increase to
100,000 E-vehicles by 2020 is then planned subsequently.
