Nomination for the State Prize for Environment and Energy Technology 2010

In 2010, the State Prize awarded by three ministries was granted for the second time and presented in Vienna on 4 February. The lighthouse project "emporA" was nominated in the "Energy and Efficiency" category.

State Prize for Environment and Energy Technology
The State Prize was awarded by the Federal Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology (BMVIT), the Federal Ministry of Economy, Family and Youth (BMWFJ) and the Federal Ministry for Land and Forestry, Environment and Water Management (BMLFUW) in the categories "Research and Innovation", "Energy and Efficiency" and "Environment and Climate". Each category comprises three nominees and one State Prize winner. A total of 90 projects were submitted. Verbund attained a nomination in the "Energy and Efficiency" category with its lighthouse project "emporA".

The Submitted Project
"emporA, the technological lighthouse project on electromobility," uses a holistic approach to bring together Austria’s key players from the automobile industry, infrastructure technology, energy supply and science in order to make electromobility ready for the market. Against the economic objectives of energy efficiency, reduction of emissions – especially CO2, but also particulate matter or noise – and supply security, the Austrian Mobile Power platform wants to create a complete system of overriding validity by means of the emporA project – a system that works both in Austria and transnationally. In the spotlight are user benefits, Austrian added value and CO2 reduction.

The focus of the call for tenders lay on projects that had already been concluded. Since the concept convinced the jury, the project was awarded with a certificate for its nomination for the State Prize for Environment and Energy Technology 2010 in the “Energy and Efficiency” category.
