The nationwide platform "Austrian Mobile Power" is making a submission to the Climate and Energy Fund in the form of a lighthouse project and a model region for the promotion of electromobility in Austria.

The deadline for submissions is 31 October; the funding volume of the electromobility program currently amounts to a total of 13.5 million Euro.

The "Austrian Mobile Power" platform has set itself the goal of bringing at least 100,000 fully electric vehicles onto Austria's roads by 2020. These vehicles should be powered entirely by green electricity.

"Austrian Mobile Power" has already put all important work packages in place for the Climate Fund's technological lighthouse project. These range from the provision of energy via the charging stations and the billing, right through to the feeding back of electricity from the vehicles' batteries. A trial fleet of 100 electric cars is to be carried out in an initial step.

Together with the platform "Electrmobility Styria" (elmoSt), Verbund will also make a submission to the Climate Funds of a model region for the establishment of electromobility.

The open platform "Austrian Mobile Power" is convinced that the future of individual mobility in Austria belongs to the fully electrically powered vehicle, which will in future be operated exclusively by additionally generated green power.

By substituting fossil fuel-based combustion engines for electric engines that have an up to three to four times higher degree of efficiency, it is also possible to cover an increased mobility requirement with a lower energy consumption.

Furthermore, if the "fuel" for electric bikes, mopeds and cars originates from renewable sources, such as water and wind power or solar energy, the greatest possible climate protection can be achieved and import dependency reduced.
